Romance Writers
Romance writers have the pleasure of creating at least one extra plot-line
over mainstream writers -- romance.
Add paranormal, erotic, and historical aspects, and you add more plot-lines.
Not to mention the three constants:
Character development,
Dramatic action,
Thematic significance.
In all romance fiction, whether a series or a single-title romance, the main plot revolves around two characters who fall in love and then struggle to build a relationship together. Other themes can be developed and explored as in any other novel, but in a romance novel, the main the main conflict centers around the romantic love and the relationship.
There are not any rules when it comes to creative writing. However, to qualify in the genre as a romance, the story must end optimistically and be emotionally satisfying to the reader.
Other themes can be developed and explored, but the conflict around romantic love and relationship drives the main dramatic action plot line.
The word plot pops up in the definition above: the main plot… Plot is the definitive element in the writing of any kind of fiction, yet plot confuses writers than any other aspect of writing. In other words, if plot confuses you, you are not alone.

Also, read the plot interviews with two bestselling authors: Brenda Novak and Kathrynn Dennis.
New York Times best seller romance author Brenda Novak has written nearly forty romance novels, has more than 3 million books in print and earned multiple honors. I came to know her best through her Annual Online Auction for Diabetes Research. Read about her writing process with an emphasis on plot for romance writers. Excellent insight and comments for all novelists, memoirists, and screenwriters.
Kathrynn Dennis, award-winning author of Dark Rider and A Shadow Rider, tells how she deals with plot when writing her romances.
The plot interview with Kathryn took place before Shadow Rider's release. Since then, the Romance Times Reviews awarded her 4 Stars! and writes: "The color, vibrancy, and excitement of the Middle Ages allows Dennis to create a memorable tale of two people whose destiny is tied to a mystical colt. Dennis tells her story with passion, drama, and a love of animals that will enthrall readers."
Martha had the great honor of working with Kathryn in the book's early development.
Martha is also available as a Keynote Speaker or plot workshop leader at your next writers conference.
